As a consequence, the unstable Aegis VII exploded, killing almost all of the planetside teams. Moments later, he had a psychotic breakdown and took the other team members to be monsters harming his daughter, causing the destruction of one of the stabilizers in the struggle. One of the team members eventually found a shard of the Marker and started hallucinating about his lost daughter. As Stross was already a part of the O'Bannon's crew, the government arranged to have the First Responder sent in after the loss of the USG Ishimura Stross was secretly tasked with retrieving pieces of Marker 3A with the help of a team of engineers and conduct research on the recovered fragments.Īfter the O'Bannon launched several stabilizers onto the planet, search teams were sent to the surface to seek out any remaining fragments of the Marker. During that time, he was also clandestinely a part of EarthGov's secret investigation into the Markers.

He followed visions of his deceased daughter that compelled him to destroy the gravity stabilizer and attack engineers Alejandro Borges, Noah Pawling, and Omar Nayim, whom he mistook for alien monsters.Prior to the mission to Aegis VII, Nolan Stross had been working as the Chief Research Scientist aboard the USG O'Bannon for a little over a year. Kuttner was the first to discover a fragment and suffered a psychotic episode upon touching it. They were to retrieve whatever fragments they could find. A monolith-like artifact known as a "Red Marker" had been found and destroyed on the planet. Isabel Cho, senior scientist Nolan Stross, and surveyor Rin, are informed of the true nature of the mission. The crew thought they were just being sent out to stabilize Aegis VII's failing gravity after a mining accident, but Kuttner and three other crew members - Dr. Security officer Nicholas Kuttner is first to give his account of events.

O'Bannon was sent to investigate the planet Aegis VII when contact with its inhabitants was lost. Set in the year 2509, one year after the events of Downfall, four survivors from the ship CDC USG O'Bannon are taken in by EarthGov officials for questioning.
